Welcome to the website of the General Presidents' Maintenance Committee and the National Maintenance Council for Canada.

The General Presidents' Maintenance Committee for Canada is a Council of Unions in which all of the Building Trades Unions participate at the International level of the Union.

The Committee, working in a cooperative and positive way with industrial maintenance contracting firms, negotiates and administers multi-craft collective agreements which cover maintenance work at many major resource and industrial facilities in Canada.

The system is long standing and secure. Our system has an enviable 56 year track record of providing skilled maintenance workers from the various local unions to meet the on-going maintenance needs of major industrial owners.

The Committee delivers two types of maintenance agreement. The General Presidents' Maintenance Agreement (GPMA) - providing on-going long-term maintenance work in a single contractor, multi-trade environment and the National Maintenance Agreement (NMA) (through the vehicle of the National Maintenance Council) providing a multi-craft collective agreement for short duration/intermittent maintenance work in a multi-contractor setting.
